Project DREAM

Downtown Revitalization Exists At Meyer

In 1999, Kankakee was rated the worst metropolitan area to live in (out of 354 rated metropolitan areas) in the United States and Canada by the Places Rated Almanac. Since then, our town has made vast improvements in our downtown development. Adam and Joe Meyer, brothers born in Kankakee, IL have been contributing vastly to those improvements. As the owners of Meyer Development, we have a fresh vision for Kankakee, IL. It is our vision to bring our town back to its former glory.

As a developer, it is our goal to help make this reality. Not only are we currently restoring a historic building, formally the Blankenburg Photography building now renovated to CNG and Access Therapy. Also, we are hoping to finish the renovation of the Majestic Centre in the heart of downtown. Meyer Development is also contributing to urban redevelopment through our non for profit organization. We believe one of the reasons Kankakee was rated as one of the worst places to live is the fact that we do not have an arts and entertainment district. Not only that, after five-o-clock our town shuts down because everyone leaves for the day.

Meyer Development is paving a way for a new Kankakee; following are many investors for this vision for a new Kankakee. We are focusing on building downtown loft living. By bringing in the lofts, we believe we will see vital growth in Kankakee. After five-o-clock in the evening, people will be coming home to their residence, which creates the opportunity for more restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment facilities. Meyer Development’s vision is to bring business owners, churches, and people of this community together to revitalize this town.
